Our stop at Howe Caverns was part of a longer trip through upstate New York, woven in between longer drives and outdoor stops. It was a change of pace — moving from open landscapes into a space entirely underground.
Howe Caverns is a large limestone cave system located in Schoharie County, New York. Discovered in the 19th century, the caverns were later developed into one of the most well-known show caves in the northeastern United States.
Today, the site is visited through guided tours that take visitors deep below the surface, into a network of chambers shaped by water over millions of years.
